/ The Paradise Suite

ENG

THE PARADISE SUITE is a raw-poetic story wherein six people, living in Amsterdam, seem to have nothing more in common than their far away motherland and the city they now live in. But they all become inextricably connected when in the darkest of times, love and friendship turn out to be the catalyst to twist their fate.

THE PARADISE SUITE, written and directed by Joost van Ginkel, will have its world premiere during the Toronto International Film Festival 2015. The film is selected for the Discovery Section: Directors to watch. The future of world cinema. Premiere in the Swedish theaters in March.

The film features an international cast, including Issaka Sawadogo (The Invader, Venice Film Festival 2011), Anjela Nedyalkova (Avé, Semaine de la Critique, Cannes 2011), Boris Isakovic, Jasna Djuricic (winner Golden Leopard Best Actress 2010) and Magnus Krepper (The Bridge, Call Girl).

Previously Joost van Ginkel directed the award-winning short films SAND (Venice Film Festival 2008) and KISS (Tribeca Film Festival 2010). His feature film debut 170HZ had its international premiere at Busan International Film Festival 2011 and won several audience awards at European film festivals. Critics claimed the film to be ‘extremely intense and sensory’ and ‘a visual adventure’.

THE PARADISE SUITE is produced by Ellen Havenith/PRPL and Jeroen Beker/Bastide Films (Netherlands) in co-production with Olle Wirenhed/GötaFilm and Film Väst (Sweden) and KaBoAl Pictures (Bulgaria). With the support of Netherlands Film Fund, Netherlands Film Production Incentive, Eurimages, Swedish Film Institute and Bulgarian National Film Center.
